Connection issues on Mac OS

Published Oct 23, 2018 · Updated Aug 13, 2026

Before troubleshooting, please make sure:

  • You are connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or a mobile data network

  • You are using Mac OS 10.11 or later

  • A 3rd party app is not interfering with Internet Settings such as antivirus, firewall, etc.

- If so please disable that 3rd party software

On your Mac computer:

First, please change DNS to Google DNS:

  1. You'll need to first head into the System Settings.

    1. Click on the Network icon.

  1. You can start adding DNS entries to the list. If you see entries that are greyed out, just ignore them, and click the + (plus) symbol at the bottom like the one shown in the picture to add new ones.

Add the following two items to the list and try to connect: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Then go to System Settings, and once you are there: 1\. Click on Network.

2\. Select VPN & Filters. 3\. Click on the "i" icon next to Betternet VPN.

4\. Click on Remove Configuration.
